No wonder we won the War of 1812!
(Context: Butler’s Bitter, from Niagara College Teaching Brewery, is based on a beer recipe that often found its way into the hands of British soldiers in the early 1800s.)
A real benefit of living in Southern Ontario is being so close to Canada’s premier teaching brewery at Niagara College. Students brew the beer you can buy at their retail store. Those brews include their standard offering, along with one-offs created by the brewmaster students.
Butler’s Bitter is THE beer to try from Niagara College. It’s a multi award winner that draws off the history of the region.
Niagara College Teaching Brewery has crafted a really tasty traditional English Bitter. It pours a rich copper colour and floral aroma.
It’s a smooth, subtle Bitter with coffee notes being the ones that jump out most to me. Best of all is just how drinkable this beer is. At a lower 4.4% ABV it thankfully won’t be quite as dangerous when I “accidentally” drink several of them back-to-back!
Every sip of Niagara College beer makes us excited for the future of craft beer!
