This is a beer we have a soft spot for. We started hearing about Blue Collar Pale Ale right around the time we bought a house in Hamilton. It was available on tap and in just a few places around town, making it a bit hard to find. In just a short couple years, it has evolved to being in tall cans at the LCBO within walking distance of our house.
Blue Collar Pale Ale is a really good beer. This is a beer that is a lot like Hamilton. Seems pretty straightforward at first, but gets more complex as you examine it.
It is a nice light amber colour with a citrus aroma that really makes you start drooling. Despite the citrus smell, you aren’t hit with hops right away when you take a sip. There is a smooth, almost malty, initial flavour. Then the hops come out to play near the end with a slightly dry bitterness.
My favourite part of the beer is that smoothness. This beer is so pleasant to drink. Dangerously pleasant to drink!
It’s clear when you drink this beer that a lot of effort has gone into making it. And we’re thankful for every ounce of effort that’s gone into it!
